Gift Ledger Family Privacy Policy
Last updated:
This policy explains how Gift Ledger Family for iPhone and iPad (shown as “Gift Ledger” on your Home Screen), developed by YUTA WATANABE, handles your information. It applies to version 2.0 and later.
Information stored on your device
Gift Ledger Family works offline. Gift records, manually entered names, relationships, family member names, events, amounts, currencies, dates, notes and return-gift status are stored locally on your device. App preferences, including reminder settings, and the counters used for the optional store review prompt are also stored locally. No account or login is required.
The app does not collect or transmit this information to the developer or a developer-operated server. It contains no advertising, tracking or usage-analytics service. The developer cannot view your ledger through the app.
No access to Contacts
You enter people’s names yourself. Gift Ledger Family does not request permission to access your device’s Contacts and does not read, import or upload your address book.
Optional app lock
App lock is off by default. If you enable it, authentication is handled by Apple’s operating system using Face ID, Touch ID or your device passcode, as available on your device. The app receives the authentication result but cannot access or store your face data, fingerprints or device passcode. It does not create a separate app passcode.
App lock controls access to the app interface. It does not protect files after you export them or control copies held in device backups.
Optional return-gift reminders
Return-gift reminders are off by default. If you turn them on, the app asks for permission to send notifications and schedules local notifications on your device for received gifts that are not marked as returned. A reminder shows the person’s name and the gift type, and depending on your notification settings it can appear on the Lock Screen.
Reminders are created and delivered by the operating system on your device. The app does not use push notifications or send your records to a server. You can turn reminders off in the app at any time, or turn off notifications for the app in the Settings app.
Manual exports and imports
You can manually export a JSON file, import a JSON file or export a CSV file. CSV import is not supported. These operations use a file you choose or a save location you select through the system file picker. The app does not automatically upload your records.
JSON and CSV exports are readable files and are not encrypted by the app. They may contain the names, gift details, amounts and other information you recorded. If you choose a cloud storage provider, another app or a sharing destination, that provider or recipient may receive a copy outside your device under its own terms and privacy policy. The app lock does not extend to those copies.
Device backups and synchronization
Gift Ledger Family does not provide its own cloud synchronization or developer-operated backup service. Depending on your settings, the operating system may include locally stored app data in device backups, such as iCloud Backup or a backup made to a computer. A backup may therefore hold a copy outside the device even though the app itself does not sync data.
You manage device backups through your device and backup service settings. The developer does not receive or control those backups. Apple’s description of app data in iCloud Backup is available in What does iCloud back up?
Earlier versions of Gift Ledger Family offered optional iCloud synchronization. Version 2.0 does not synchronize data and does not access records that earlier versions stored on your device or in iCloud.
Keeping and deleting your records
Your records remain on the device until you delete them or remove the app and its local data. You can delete entries within the app. Deleting the app and its data is different from offloading the app, which can retain its data. Exported files and existing device backups must be managed or deleted separately through their respective apps or services. The developer has no server copy of your ledger to retrieve or delete.
External services and support
Core ledger functions do not need an internet connection. If you open the privacy-policy website or interact with the App Store’s review interface, your browser or the store may communicate with that service under its own policies. The app does not send your ledger as part of those actions. This policy covers the app; it does not describe the separate website’s cookies or server logs.
If you email the developer for support, your email address and the information you choose to send are received through email and used to respond to your inquiry. This is separate from collection by the app. Please send only information needed for your inquiry.
Changes and contact
This policy may be updated to reflect changes to the app or its data handling. Updates will be identified by the date above.
